Hello Ramseur students and parents! My name is Hope Haywood, and I just began teaching in Ramseur in 2015. It seems kind of odd, as I began my teaching career at Ramseur Elementary School YEARS ago. In fact, this building wasn’t even here at the time! I taught in the old, 2-story building that used to sit near the trees at our current parking lot. Each day my students and I watched as the current building was being constructed right outside our classroom windows!

My undergraduate education was at Wake Forest University and UNCG, where I majored in English and Education. By the time I received my Masters from UNCG in Reading, my husband and I had started our family and I became a stay-at-home mom and full time school volunteer. I returned to teaching when our youngest son was in 3rd grade. For many years I was a Reading Specialist in the Asheboro City Schools, until I retired. Then Mrs. Abernethy gave me the opportunity to teach at Ramseur Elementary part time, and to learn and teach a new program, Achieve3000. It has been rewarding to be back at Ramseur and get to know the students and staff here.

My husband is Stan Haywood, and we have 3 sons - Drew (married to Laura), Jon, and Mark. All my guys graduated from CAROLINA so we are Tar Heel fans. We enjoy going to games, especially football where we can tailgate.

Hiking, traveling, and reading are my passions...and spending time with my dog, Charlie. He and I play soccer, frisbee, and catch together. He is a trained therapy dog so I will be bringing Charlie to visit the students at some point in time.
