Bikes for Kids!
Bikes for Kids!

"Everybody is getting a bike!" Bikes for Kids and Petty Family Foundation teamed up to surprise every third grader from five elementary schools with a free bike at an assembly at Randleman Elementary School!

Bikes for Kids

On Tuesday, October 15th, our students were met by the Randleman High School band and football team for a heros welcome. Our hosts were Bob & Bill and they had some special guests for us. Richard & Kyle Petty along with Bubba Wallace (driver of the #43 race car) were there to meet the students and give away 4 bikes for winning essays. Aaron Tyson from Ms. Disher’s class was one of the winning essays! After the winning essays were announced they announced that every 3rd grade student at each school would receive a bike! The students were overjoyed! While the third grade was at the assembly some wonderful volunteers here pushed all the bikes into the gym so that when the students took their lunch to the gym to eat they were surprised with their bikes.

These bikes came to Ramseur in boxes and Ms. Abernethy put together a special group of volunteers who spent a Sunday afternoon here putting each and every one of the 63 bikes together.  These volunteers not only put all these bikes together but they also kept it a secret. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard on getting these bikes from the organization to those who put them together to the folks who loaded them in the gym for the surprise reveal!
